We have stayed at the Ashley in Paddington since 1987 and we love the location, the wonderful staff, and this year our room was very nice. We will certainly return to.this Hotel everytime we return to London. We wish the new management success!
Last year our room was very small, hot and birds on the window ledge so that we we could not open the window. This year our room was just across the hall and it was roomy and coo. What had not changed was your wonderful staff! As always, the frint desk was very helpful, the breakfast room staff was lovely, and the lovely lady who cleaned our room was thorough and very friendly.
Location is excellent: 3 minutes for a walk from Paddington station
There was only one shared bathroom and it was dirty.Te room was very small - about 2 square meters and too hot.
Location was great, just two short blocks from Paddington station, which makes it an ideal overnight stop if you're flying out from Heathrow in the morning. (The Heathrow Express leaves Paddington every fifteen minutes, and has you at the airport in fifteen minutes.) The hotel is obviously a budget place, and while it has downsides you can save a bunch of money if you are just looking for a good alternative to an airport hotel.
The bathroom in my single room was very tiny, although given the size of the room you couldn't expect much bigger. I could live with that, but unfortunately the water was at best lukewarm, and downright cool when I showered in the morning. I think the mattress had about three springs in it. It wasn't as bad as I first feared, but you could definitely feel the wires when you laid down.
Tiny little, dirty room. Positioned next to the water pipes of hotels therefore all night very loud noise of whenever somebody from other rooms showered or went to toilet. Additionally intolerable noise when fan of other toilet rooms went on. Impossible to sleep!!!
1. Was charged 20 pounds for three days internet and spent whole night but still unable to connect the internet. I asked the reception about the connection problem but they didn't do anything, just ask me to wait. 2. continental breakfast with limited choices. 3. no luggage store service 4. very small room
There was no help with the heavy luggage, there was no bathroom in my room but I paid for a room with a bathroom. I didn't like it at all.
Great location, 2 minutes walk from Paddington tube station but in a quiet street. Good value for money.
Acceptable value for the price, and the location is excellent. The staff were quite nice, they changed the room without me asking for it when they noticed the bathroom is leeking. As an accommodation for a week sightseeing it was a good place.
The breakfast was everything but continental, at least there was something. It's easy to get four stars on food hygiene when they don't offer anything with eggs or any kind of meat product.
It was relatively cheap and close to Paddington Station and Underground.
Probably the smallest, single hotel 'room' I've ever stayed in. I measured it - 8' by 10 '. The door would not open fully as it banged into the bed.Clean sheets but grubby carpet. I was on the third floor so quite a steep hike to get to it. No lift / elevator. A nice dining room in the basement but just cereal, rolls and toast for breakfast. No protein. (You have to ask for toast). Basically this is just a hotel in which only to sleep for a few nights. Have stayed in better Youth Hostels for half the price. If you are a fussy, finicky person do not stay here!
Great location . Close to Paddington train station.
The hotel was shabby and smelt of damp. Wallpaper coming off Walls and damp mould in bathroom. Breakfast was poor.
No lift!! Big problem for the one who've got large baggage. The breakfast is very extreamly plain, and think about 3 nights stay!
We booked the hotel months ago yet when we arrived found that the allocated room was adjacent to the broom cupboard with a view to the plumbing access well. The room was dark and dingy and the "bathroom" had non functioning mixer tap in the shower, missing tiles, peeling wall paper and mouldy ceiling. The Breakfast was lilmited to cereal bread coffee and juice. There was no fruit, yoghurt and no cooked options
The location is really good...easy access to Hyde Park, and really easy to find.
Very very small and poor rooms...steep and narrow stairs...not willing to stay indoor
Very close to the tube and easy accessible.
I have stopped in a fair few hotels in the paddington area and compared to these the value for money is poor room very small and stuffy but you get what you pay for!
the room was clean and tidy and the staff was pleasant and helpful
